Dive Mozambique: Tofo, Zavora, Pomene & Vilanculos – 13 nights / 14 days / 20 dives

Day 1 – The Arrival in Tofo:

You arrive at Oliver Tambo International airport in Johannesburg.

The regional flight from JNB to INH takes 1 hour and 45 minutes.

We pick you up at the airport in Inhambane and arrange a direct transfer to Tofo Beach at only 17 km away. 4 Nights stay in Tofo at one of the many accommodation options.

You will arrive in the afternoon and can relax from the long travel by drinking a beer in a beach bar or by enjoying a traditional dinner in one of Tofos many good restaurants. Many exciting days of diving Mozambique’s Manta Coastline await.

Day 2 to Day 4 (3 full scuba diving days):

Enjoy 3 full days of scuba diving, either both in the morning, or one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Dive planning depends mainly on the conditions and the amount of divers in the dive centre. Here is your big chance to spot some of the amazing sea life that Tofo has to offer, including the world famous Manta Reef.

There is plenty of time to partake in any of the other activities on offer in Tofo.

Day 5 – Off to Zavora:

Pick up in Tofo and direct transfer to Zavora. Two and a half hour drive and possibility of a first scuba dive in the afternoon.

You will stay at Zavora Lodge in the Sea View Apartments. Full board is included at the restaurant of Zavora Lodge.

Day 6 & 7 – 2 full scuba diving days:

Enjoy 2 full days of scuba diving on the reefs that Zavora has to offer. Zavora is one of the few places in the world where manta rays are spotted on shallow dives! Technical diving facilities are also available, perfect for diving the deep wreck called the Klipfontein.

Other activities such as visits to the light house and inland lake kayaking can be arranged by Zavora Lodge.

Day 8 – Off to Pomene:

Pick up in Zavora and direct land transfer to Pomene Lodge. It is approximately a four hour drive to Pomene. Upon arrival, one can enjoy a sun downer while overlooking the flamingos in the estuary.

Day 9 & 10 – 2 full scuba diving days:

Enjoy 2 scuba dives a day, either both in the morning, or one on in the morning and one in the afternoon. The dive sites in Pomene are pristine and uncrowded. In fact, you won’t see any other divers out there as there is only one dive centre! In the afternoons it is also possible to do a shallow dive in the estuary. This is an underwater photographers dream, as you can expect to see many juvenile species.

Day 11 – Off to Vilanculos:

Pick up in Pomene and direct land transfer to Vilanculos, transfer time of approximately 4 hours. You will be staying at Casa Rex, a fantastic establishment with breathtaking views of the Bazaruto Archipelago, your dive playground for the next 2 days.

Day 12 & 13 – 2 full scuba diving days:

Enjoy 2 scuba dives a day, done in a double tank format, which includes spending lunch time on one of the islands of the Archipelago. If you are feeling energetic, try walking to the top of one of the enormous sand dunes, for a truly spectacular view.
